Chakras

According to Judy Hall's "Crystal Bible", a Chakra is:

"A spinning vortex of subtle energy. The term comes from the Sanskrit word chakram, which means "wheel", because these centres appear to clairvoyants and yogis as whirling discs of light. The system of subtle energy channels and centres is the basis for the meridians and energy points used in acupuncture, yoga practice and energy healing. There are 8 main chakras, located in a line aligned with the spine. These centres connect the energy of the physical body with that of the subtle body. The 8 Chakras are located in the crown of the head, the centre of the forehead (third eye), the throat, the solar plexus, the base of the spine, the genitals, and beneath the feet (earth). When the Chakras are functioning properly, the body's physical and subtle energies are in balance and harmony. Malfunctions can lead to physical, mental, emotional or spiritual disturbances. Many energy workers believe that the Chakras can be healed by the interaction between the vibrations of crystals and the energies of the body's biomagnetic or subtle energy field."

Chakra's are the linking points between your physical body and your aura. Each Chakra links to a specific part of life and to certain organs and conditions. Any imbalance, blockage or disturbance in your chakras can create dis-ease, which can then manifest in your physical body as discomfort or illness. However by using crystals, placed in the right spots, you can harmonize your chakras and eliminate dis-ease. Chakra's also traditionally have their own colours, as referred to in the text below.

Chakra's can get stuck open (known as a blown chakra), which can lead to negative conditions. This can also leave you particularly vulnerable to outside influence as there's nothing to protect you. Likewise a Chakra can also get stuck closed, equally leading to blockages and negative manifestations. To relieve either of these conditions, place a stone of the right colour onto the relevant chakra and leave to heal for as long as possible.

Higher Crown Chakra (about a hands span above the top of your head) - white or clear stones.

The sphere of service and spiritual enlightenment. If this is stuck open, you are spaced out and open to delusion. Influence from other realms of being and entity attachment is possible.

Negative Quality: Spiritually untrustworthy. Positive Quality: Enlightenment

Crown Chakra (just above your head) - violet stones

The sphere of spiritual communication and awareness. If this chakra is blocked, attempting to control others is common, and if stuck open, obsession and openness to spiritual interference or possession can result. Linked to Cosmic Energy and Seventh Sense.

Negative Quality: Arrogance. Positive Quality: Spirituality

Brow/Third Eye Chakra (forehead) - indigo stones

The sphere of intuition and mental connection. Imbalances here can create a sense of your being bombarded by other people's thoughts, or being overtaken by wild and irrational intuitions that have no basis in truth. Controlling or coercing mental 'hooks' from other people can lock in here and affect your thoughts. Linked to Telepathic Energy and Sixth Sense.

Throat Chakra - blue stones

The sphere of communication. If blocked your thoughts and feelings cannot be verbalised. Other people's opinions can cause you difficulties. Linked to Ether and the hearing sense.

Higher Heart Chakra (mid-chest, between heart and throat) - pink stones

The sphere of compassion. If this is blocked, unconditional love and service cannot be offered. You will be emotionally needy and unable to express feelings openly.

Heart Chakra - green stones

The sphere of love and nurturing. If this is blocked, love cannot flourish, feelings such as jealousy are common and there is enormous resistance to change. Linked to air element and sense of touch.

Negative Quality: Possessiveness Positive Quality: Peaceful harmony

Solar Plexus Chakra (just at the bottom of the ribcage) - yellow stones

The sphere of emotional communication and assimilation. Blockages can lead to taking on other people's feelings and problems or to being overwhelmed by your own emotions. It affects energy assimilation and utilization. Emotional 'hooks' from other people can be found here. Linked to Fire element and sense of sight.

Sacral Chakra (abdomen) - orange stones

The sphere of creativity, fertility and acceptance of yourself as a sexual being. Imbalances lead to infertility and blocked creativity. The sacral chakra is where 'hooks' from other people may make themselves felt, particularly from sexual encounters. Linked to Water element and sense of taste.

Base Chakra (genital region) - red stones

The sphere of basic survival instincts and security issues. Imbalances lead to sexual disturbances and feelings of anger, impotence and frustration. Linked to Earth element and sense of smell.

Earth Chakra (just below the feet) - brown stones

The sphere of everyday reality and groundedness. Imbalances or blockages lead to discomfort on your physical body, feelings of helplessness and inability to function practically in the world. Earth chakra imbalances pick up adverse environmental factors such as geopathic stress, black 'ley' lines and toxic pollutants.

There are also 2 other lesser known Chakras, which can be the subtle cause of dis-ease , and may underlie some chronic illnesses such as immune deficiencies or malfunctions.

Spleen Chakra (below the left armpit)

The sphere of assertion and empowerment. If this chakra is imbalanced, you will have anger issues or suffer constant irritation, with your body turning in to attack itself. If the Chakra is too open, other people can draw on your energy, leaving you depleted particularly at the immune level.

Past-life Chakra (three fingers breadth behind your ears, just above the bony ridge)

The sphere of memory and hereditary issues. Imbalances mean that you are stuck in the past and cannot move forward, and may well be repeating your own past life patterns or ancestral patterns that have passed down through your family. This is also a point where people from the past can attach and control you.

Negative Quality: Dependence Positive Quality: Self-directed

By placing a stone over one of your Chakras (either front or back of the body), you can heal and balance that Chakra. You can place stones over all the Chakras simultaneously, one at a time or in a combination to achieve the desired results.
